Chicago, Chicago

This past weekend Wade had a business trip to Chicago and I piggy backed onto the front end of the trip. We had a great time. Kenneth and Melanie came to our townhouse and watched Carson and Claire. I think they had an equally good time. Thanks so much y'all.Friday night steak dinner.
It was c-o-l-d.
Natalie and Bobby met us at the Tavern for drinks after dinner.
They're some of Wade's friends from A&M.

We decided to take a boat trip through the river and lake to see and hear all about the Windy City.
Trump's newest building. Soon to be the tallest in Chicago.

The sailboats relocate to warmer waters in the fall. The streets are draw bridges so that they can get through. Chicago has 80 some odd draw bridge/streets.

Deep dish Chicago style pizza. YUM!

Shopping on Michigan Ave. TONS of people.

Are we in Chicago or New York?

We went to the Hancock Tower for drinks on the 85th floor.
The elevator took 40 seconds to get there non-stop.
F-A-S-T. The best view was actually in the ladies room. Wade said there weren't even windows in the men's room. Go figure. After our cocktails.
We had dinner with one of Wade's distributors. Scuzi's Italian.
Great.

On my way home on Sunday I had to get a Chicago style hot dog. They come with some bright green relish, banana bell peppers, Klausen pickle, mustard, sliced tomatoes and celery salt. Surprisingly good and interesting combo.

October pictures--7 months old

Claire and Carson are playing more and more together. They're sitting up and falling over and over and over. For some reason they're smiling with their tongue sticking out. Our friends have let us borrow a few of their toys to help in our "temporary 2 story home with one mommy and 2 babies" situation. We're wearing our Halloween outfits as much as possible before the season ends and we've outgrown them. Thanks Aunt April for the cute clothes and DVD. We watch Barney's Halloween some in the afternoons. So far we're having a great time in our new space.

Yeah October!

October 2008

Houston has been having a little break with our usual hot and humid. October's brought a few days of cooler weather.
My mom and I even took the kids and Barkley for a few walks in our new/used jogger. I'd been wanting a jogger for some time (right Aunt April?? HA) and just couldn't stand to spend so much for one. I got this one for $75 at a resale shop. But mom and I had to take turns driving/steering because it pulled pretty hard to the right...like pushing a bad shopping cart at Kroger. I say 'pulled' because my trusty husband fixed it!!! Yeah! Thanks Wade-o. I think Claire and Carson really enjoyed sitting next to one another...for the first time. I think we will be taking many more walks this fall.
My cousin Brooke had her 30th birthday on October 1st. Happy Birthday, Brooke...I thought of you all day long and so sorry that I'm just now letting you know. Hope it was a great one.

Bible Dedication Day

September 28, 2008
Claire and Carson were given their first Bibles today in church. It was so special to introduce them to the congregation. It was really fun to dress them up in fancy church clothes. :)

We're ready to blog again

We're back to blogging! After a few long weeks our temporary place is finally hooked up to the Internet and ready to go.

I have a lot of catching up to do so enjoy all of the pics in the coming blogs.

Here are a few of our home pre/post Ike. It's amazing how strong wind and rain can be.

These are just a snap shot of the damage. You can only imagine the inside. Completely unlivable...for now. The rebuilding will begin next week--

...and now on to happier blogs...the twins!! :)
